PingTool: Extended Logging

Since version 5.0, it is possible to enable “Extended Logging” for all or individual objects. With extended logging, every ping and every TCP port check is logged. The data is located in the PingTool directory under ExtendedLogging, i.e., by default under %localappdata%\PingTool\ExtendedLogging.

Enabling extended logging

In the 3-dot menu (...), click on “Extended Logging” and select the objects for which extended logging should be enabled. To enable it for all objects, use the asterisk * as a wildcard. Expressions such as NB* are also allowed to enable logging for all host names that begin with “NB”.

Analyze log files

Right-click on an object and select “Show chart” to visualize the available data.
